HORRIFIC CASE: A Sacramento Man Faces Decade-Long Sentence for Child Sex Exploitation

Raymond James Cornett, 53, of Sacramento, has entered a guilty plea to the charge of sexual exploitation of minors, according to United States Attorney Eric Grant. The grim revelation comes as federal authorities continue their relentless pursuit of those who prey on innocent children.

Court documents detail how Cornett requested and received explicit videos and images from a Canadian woman, featuring a six-year-old victim and another 7-year-old. The investigation revealed that Cornett also sought out material involving two other minors, exposing his sinister intentions.

This case is the culmination of an intensive joint effort by the Sacramento Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Roger Yang is leading the prosecution against the despicable criminal.

The Canadian woman who provided the explicit content was prosecuted by Canadian authorities, showcasing international cooperation in combating this global scourge. Cornett’s sentencing is scheduled for December 8, 2025, before U.S. District Judge William B. Shubb. He faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
