PITTSBURGH, Pa. – A grim tally of deceit and financial chicanery was marked with a federal sentence as Ting Hong Yeung, 43, from Hacienda Heights, California, faced justice for his elaborate scheme. Yeung, caught red-handed in the art of large-scale fraud, pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud on August 14, 2025, and was subsequently sentenced by Chief United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak to nine months of imprisonment followed by three years of federal supervised release.
From August 2018 to June 2020, Yeung, a cunning manipulator of the postal system, submitted or caused over 6,000 fraudulent claim requests for lost or damaged ground package shipments that never occurred. His scheme netted him settlement payments exceeding $6,000, a sum he was now forced to forfeit after his fraudulent activities were exposed.
Chief Judge Hornak, noting the magnitude of Yeung’s offense and the toll it took on the affected package delivery company, did not mince words during sentencing. ‘The impact of your actions on the ground package delivery industry is profound,’ he sternly declared before imposing sentence. Assistant United States Attorney Nicole A. Stockey led the government’s case against Yeung with unwavering dedication.
Yeung’s conviction is a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which conducted the investigation that led to his prosecution. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti lauded the FBI for their role in this successful prosecution, underscoring the importance of such investigations in maintaining public trust and safety.
This sentence sends a clear message that fraudsters who prey on the shipping industry will be held accountable. Yeung’s fall from grace serves as a cautionary tale for those who consider engaging in similar fraudulent activities.
