Georgia Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Fraud Conspiracy

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A major bank fraud conspiracy has reached its climax as Ameer Clark, 34, of Atlanta, Georgia, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo. The 30-year-old faces up to three decades in prison and a $1 million fine for his involvement.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Paul E. Bonanno and Sasha Mascarenhas revealed that Clark, alongside Lorenzo Jones, Quentavious Price, Montez White, and others, orchestrated a scheme to steal genuine checks from businesses in New York’s Western District between January and September 2022. They then created fraudulent checks on the stolen accounts and recruited individuals to cash them.

According to the prosecution, Clark’s gang traveled from Atlanta to Buffalo, Tonawanda, and Rochester, NY, where they drove unsuspecting individuals to various banks. In one instance in January 2022, Price, Jones, and two others flew to Buffalo, driving a victim to multiple KeyBank branches to cash fraudulent checks.

In March 2022, the same group visited M&T Bank, Bank on Buffalo, and Evans Bank branches with three individuals to cash checks. By September 2022, Clark, Price, Jones, and White were in Rochester, directing six individuals to various banks to attempt to cash another batch of fraudulent checks.

The total loss from this conspiracy amounts to $64,979.67. Jones and Price have already been convicted, while charges against Montez White are still pending. This plea is the outcome of a joint investigation by Homeland Security Investigations and the New York State Police.

Sentencing for Clark is set for January 5, 2026, before Judge Vilardo. The grimy details of this crime plot serve as a stark reminder of the lengths some will go to in pursuit of financial gain.
