Brandon M. Kelley, Child Starvation Murder, Georgia 2025

Ft. Stewart Army Base, Liberty County, GA – A chilling case of child abuse has unfolded in Georgia as a federal grand jury, in the Southern District of Georgia, indicted husband and wife Brandon M. Kelley, 29, and Stacey D. Kelley, 26, for the brutal murder of their daughter, Vyolet Kelley.

On August 8, 2025, the Kelleys were charged with several counts, including Felony Murder and two counts of Second Degree Murder, stemming from the deprivation of adequate nourishment and medical care that led to the child’s death. The family resided at Fort Stewart Military Reservation due to Brandon Kelley’s enlistment as an enlisted soldier during the time period covered by the indictment.

“The allegations in this case are heartbreaking on many levels,” said Acting United States Attorney Tara M. Lyons. “Our office will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to pursue justice.”

The investigation into this heinous crime was conducted by the United States Army Criminal Investigative Division, and Assistant United States Attorneys Timothy P. Dean and E. Greg Gilluly, Jr., are handling the prosecution. The Kelleys face a sentence of life in prison upon conviction, with no parole available in the federal system.

An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. For any questions regarding this case, please contact the U.S. Attorney’s Office at (912) 652-4422.
