Mazincia Ductant, Tax Return Filing Fraud, Florida 2009

A Sunrise woman was sentenced to 36 months in prison for her role in a massive tax fraud scheme.

Mazincia Ductant, 37, was the owner of Ninote Tax Services, a tax preparation business in Margate, Florida. Between 2007 and 2009, Ductant used her business to file hundreds of tax returns on behalf of her clients, falsifying a high percentage of the returns by inflating or completely fabricating deductions and credits.

According to court documents, Ductant prepared fraudulent tax returns for approximately 125 people, resulting in a total tax loss of $1,317,508 to the government.

Ductant was sentenced by a federal judge to 36 months in prison, followed by one year of supervised release. She was also ordered to pay $1,317,508 in restitution.

U.S. Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer commended the investigative efforts of the IRS-CI, which led to Ductant’s arrest and conviction.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Harry C. Wallace, Jr.

The sentencing marks the end of a long investigation into Ductant’s tax preparation business, which was shut down by authorities in 2009.
