Borger Man Sentenced to 5 Years for Child Pornography

Aaron Robert Wells, 23, of Borger, Texas, was sentenced to five years in federal prison for his role in a child pornography case. According to U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña, Wells was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal after being sentenced by U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson.

The case began in March 2012, when Wells was contacted online by an undercover law enforcement officer through file sharing software. An investigation revealed that Wells had saved numerous images of child pornography on his computer and made them available for online sharing.

Among the images downloaded by the undercover officer were two images of minor males engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Wells pleaded guilty to one count of transportation of child pornography in April 2014.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

The FBI investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven M. Sucsy of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Lubbock, Texas, prosecuted. This case is a prime example of the importance of Project Safe Childhood in identifying and prosecuting individuals who sexually exploit children.

Aaron Robert Wells’ sentencing marks a significant step in the fight against child exploitation. The Grimy Times will continue to report on cases like this to bring awareness to the ongoing issue of child pornography and the importance of prevention and prosecution.
