ABILENE, Texas – David Scott Fikani, 62, was sentenced to 108 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of prepubescent child pornography.

Fikani, who has been in federal custody since September 2015, was found guilty in July 2015 on one count of possession of prepubescent child pornography.

According to plea documents, Fikani used his computer at home to search for images and videos of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. He then downloaded and viewed numerous images and videos constituting child pornography, including some involving prepubescent minors.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Abilene Police Department investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven M. Sucsy leading the prosecution.

Fikani’s sentence is a harsh reminder of the consequences of child pornography possession. The crime is a serious offense that can have devastating effects on victims and their families.

As part of the prosecution, Fikani will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
