Deandre Caldwell, a 34-year-old Albany man, was involved in a large-scale marijuana and tetrahydrocannabinols (THC) trafficking operation that shipped thousands of kilograms of marijuana from Fresno, California to the Capital Region of New York. Between June 2020 and May 2022, Caldwell received 66 packages containing approximately 306 kilograms, or 675 pounds, of marijuana at his apartment on Hudson Avenue in Albany. He sold the marijuana and THC edibles out of a ‘knock spot’ and possessed a .380 caliber handgun to protect his operation. On July 29, 2026, Caldwell was sentenced to 97 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release for his crimes.

Caldwell’s operation was uncovered when law enforcement searched his apartment on June 15, 2022, and found marijuana, THC edibles, digital scales, boxes from Fast Pack & Ship, and $15,941 in cash drug proceeds. The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Caldwell pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute and possessing with intent to distribute marijuana and tetrahydrocannabinols (THC) and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. His sentence reflects the seriousness of his offenses and the impact of his operation on the community.
