Rashaun Crule, a 32-year-old Buffalo man, pleaded guilty to selling a lethal dose of fentanyl that killed two people in Amherst, NY, on February 10, 2023. Crule delivered the fentanyl to an individual identified as M.M. at a location on Campus Drive, and within 20 minutes, both M.M. and another person, B.Y., were found dead. The Erie County Medical Examiner’s office determined that the cause of death was acute intoxication with fentanyl, cocaine, and ethanol.
Crule was on probation for a 2022 felony drug conviction in Erie County at the time of the incident. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan K. Glaberson, and the investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Amherst Police Department.
The guilty plea carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $1,000,000. Sentencing is scheduled for November 6, 2026, before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.
