Jun N. Martinez, a 33-year-old Jamestown man, was involved in a large-scale drug trafficking operation that spanned multiple states. Martinez received packages of cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin through the mail from an out-of-state source and distributed them to others for profit. The operation was busted in September 2020, when Martinez’s vehicle was stopped by an Illinois State Police Trooper, resulting in the seizure of approximately 9,589 grams of methamphetamine, 3,157 grams of fentanyl, 2,241 grams of cocaine, and marijuana products.
Martinez also provided large quantities of crystal methamphetamine and heroin/fentanyl to an individual known to law enforcement, who then sold the drugs to others for profit. The individual then provided additional funds to Martinez for more narcotics. In October 2020, a search warrant was executed at Martinez’s Wescott Street residence, where investigators recovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a drug ledger, and approximately $62,000.
The case was part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative, a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad.
Martinez was sentenced to time served, approximately 70 months, by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. The sentence marks the end of a long and complex investigation into Martinez’s drug trafficking operation.
