A massive cross-country narcotics conspiracy unraveled with the sentencing of La D. Huynh, a 43-year-old California trafficker, to 126 months in prison. Huynh supplied methamphetamine, heroin/fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana to associates, including Jamestown-based dealer Jun Martinez.
When Martinez stopped taking calls from Huynh, the two resumed their operation in 2020, shipping illicit substances via mail from the San Diego area. In September 2020, Martinez met with Huynh and co-conspirator Kevin Hughes in California, receiving large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl.
During the return trip, Illinois State Police stopped Martinez and Hughes, seizing over 15,000 grams of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana products. Local law enforcement later found 438 grams of methamphetamine and $62,000 in cash at Martinez’s residence.
California authorities discovered 101 kilograms of cocaine during a traffic stop of Huynh. The investigation revealed a complex web of narcotics trafficking spanning multiple states.
