Albuquerque Man Sentenced to 5 Years for Methamphetamine Trafficking
An Albuquerque man was sentenced to 5 years in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation. Jimmy Marquez, 38, was handed down a 60-month prison sentence followed by four years of supervised release.
Marquez was arrested on June 30, 2015, after being charged with distributing methamphetamine in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. The indictment included allegations that required Marquez to forfeit $600 and a motorcycle to the United States.
Marquez pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of methamphetamine and admitted to selling 13.6 grams of 98.4% pure methamphetamine to an undercover law enforcement officer on April 17, 2015.
The case was investigated by the Albuquerque office of the DEA and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer M. Rozzoni.
This sentencing brings an end to a lengthy investigation into Marquez’s involvement in the methamphetamine trade. The DEA’s efforts to combat methamphetamine trafficking in the Albuquerque area are ongoing.
Marquez’s sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of involvement in methamphetamine trafficking. The DEA urges anyone with information about methamphetamine trafficking to come forward and assist in the fight against this dangerous crime.
