A brutal robbery that shook a Sioux City community has resulted in a seven-year prison sentence for the perpetrator. Alejandro Bautista, a 21-year-old from Sioux City, Iowa, was handed down the sentence on April 5, 2023, after a guilty plea in October 2022.

According to evidence presented in the case, Bautista tricked a marijuana dealer into allowing him into his home on October 28, 2020. Once inside, Bautista shouted a signal and armed gunmen entered the home, restraining, beating, and brutalizing the marijuana dealer, his brother, and girlfriend. The victims were robbed of marijuana, cash, a firearm, and other valuables.

The case was investigated by the Sioux City Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Forde Fairchild. Bautista was sentenced by United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand to 84 months’ imprisonment, followed by a three-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
