Defendants Face Decades in Prison for Massive Meth Bust

Two illegal aliens, Alejandro Martinez, 32, and Juan Hernandez, 35, from Mexico, were arrested and charged with conspiring with a cartel to distribute more than 100 pounds of methamphetamine in the Northern District of Oklahoma.

According to the Department of Justice, USAO, the massive bust was the result of a long-running investigation into methamphetamine trafficking in the region. The defendants were caught with over 100 pounds of the highly addictive and deadly substance, with an estimated street value of $1.5 million.

The investigation, led by the FBI and the Northern District of Oklahoma US Attorney’s Office, uncovered a complex web of connections between Martinez, Hernandez, and a Mexican cartel. The cartel, known for its ruthless tactics and widespread reach, had been flooding the region with methamphetamine for years.

Martinez and Hernandez were arrested in a coordinated effort by federal and local law enforcement, with assistance from the US Border Patrol. The defendants are currently being held without bail, pending trial.

Both Martinez and Hernandez face federal charges, including conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute, and importation of a controlled substance. If convicted, each defendant could face up to life in prison and fines of up to $10 million.

The bust is a significant blow to the methamphetamine trade in the region, and a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement agencies in Oklahoma.
