Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Trafficking Lands Akron Man 115 Months in Prison
CLEVELAND – Alex R. Andrus, 31, of Akron, Ohio, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
According to court documents, during the execution of a search warrant at Andrus’ Akron home on March 8, 2022, Andrus possessed fentanyl and more than 200 pills containing methamphetamine, which he intended to sell to drug customers, as well as a loaded pistol. Andrus is prohibited under federal law from possessing a firearm due to previous felony convictions.
The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Akron Police Department.
Andrus’ case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Peter E. Daly, who successfully argued the severity of the charges and the need for a lengthy prison sentence.
As a result of his guilty plea, Andrus was sentenced to 115 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Dan Aaron Polster. This lengthy prison sentence underscores the seriousness of the charges and the need for harsh penalties for those who engage in fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking.
Andrus’ case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of the opioid epidemic and the need for continued efforts to combat fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking in our communities.
With this sentence, the court has sent a clear message that those who engage in this type of activity will be held accountable and will face severe consequences.
Andrus’ case is a stark reminder of the dangers of fentanyl and methamphetamine and the need for continued education and awareness about the risks associated with these substances.
It is essential that we continue to work together to address the opioid epidemic and to prevent the flow of fentanyl and methamphetamine into our communities.
The sentence in Andrus’ case should serve as a warning to those who would engage in this type of activity, and we hope that it will help to make our communities safer.
