⏱ 2 min read

Freddie Castillo, a 36-year-old illegal alien from Belize, was stopped by law enforcement in Trinity County, Texas, on August 2, 2025, with a shotgun and rifle in his vehicle. Castillo, who was living in Houston on an expired visa, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison on July 9, 2026, as part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat illegal immigration and violent crime.

According to court documents, Castillo provided the officer with a Belize passport, driver’s license, and consular identification card during the stop, and admitted to possessing the firearms. Further investigation revealed that Castillo’s visa, which was issued in 2000, had expired in 2010, and he had not applied for permission to extend the visa or remain in the United States.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Department of Homeland Security. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Gaston prosecuted the case, which was heard by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone.

Castillo’s sentencing is a significant blow to illegal alien gun possession in the Eastern District of Texas. Operation Take Back America aims to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
