⏱ 2 min read

Five illegal aliens were arrested in Phoenix, Arizona, for running a large-scale alien smuggling operation that harbored and transported aliens across the US. The suspects, Rigoberto Rangel-Mora, Jesus Marin-Esquivel, Ingrid Bolanos-Gomez, Alejandro Ambrocio-Espinosa, and Enrique Cervantes-Barrera, all from Mexico or Guatemala, were caught after a traffic stop on April 28 near Cordes Lakes, Arizona, where 11 aliens were found in a minivan, including one in the trunk. The operation was busted after an investigation led by US Customs and Border Protection’s US Border Patrol Intelligence Unit and Homeland Security Investigations.

According to court documents, the smuggling operation used a stash house in Phoenix to harbor aliens before transporting them across the US in older model minivans with charity license plates. On April 30, investigators executed federal search warrants at the stash house and two apartments, finding 22 aliens being harbored. The suspects were identified as the caretaker of the stash house and drivers who made cross-country trips with smuggled aliens.

The arrested suspects were indicted by a federal grand jury for Conspiracy to Transport and Harbor Illegal Aliens. The investigation and arrests mark a significant blow to alien smuggling operations in the Phoenix area, which have been a major concern for law enforcement agencies.

The case highlights the dangers and risks faced by aliens who are smuggled into the US, often under inhumane conditions and at the mercy of ruthless smugglers. The investigation and prosecution of such cases are crucial in disrupting and dismantling alien smuggling networks and protecting the rights and dignity of vulnerable individuals.
