Murder Charge Filed Against Young Woman in Red Lake

A disturbing incident unfolded in the early hours of July 4, 2013, at a residence on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota. It was there that 51-year-old Byron James Lussier met his untimely demise at the hands of 25-year-old Alison Ann Brown.

According to eyewitness accounts, an argument erupted between Brown and Lussier, which ultimately led to the fateful stabbing. Brown allegedly produced a kitchen knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds on Lussier, leaving him lying on the floor. Witnesses claimed that Brown fled the scene on foot following the altercation.

Responding law enforcement officers were summoned to the residence at approximately 4:22 a.m. and found Lussier in a critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, the victim was pronounced dead at the Red Lake Hospital.

As the investigation unfolded, the Red Lake Tribal Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation collaborated to gather evidence and piece together the events surrounding Lussier’s tragic death.

Alison Ann Brown has been charged with one count of murder, punishable by a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. Assistant United States Attorney Clifford B. Wardlaw is overseeing the prosecution of the case.
