A Georgia woman, Yon Park, 61, of Suwanee, has been sentenced in federal court to three years of probation, with home detention for the first ten months, on her conviction of transporting a person for prostitution.

According to information presented to the court, on February 14, 2011, Park, as the owner of The SunSet Health Spa, located on Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona, Pennsylvania, caused an individual to be transported in interstate or foreign commerce, with the intent that such individual engage in prostitution, or in any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense.

United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Park. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie L. Haines prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

United States Attorney David J. Hickton commended the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation, and the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Park.

Park’s sentence is a result of her conviction of transportation for illegal sexual activity, a charge often associated with human trafficking cases.
