PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Maurice Mosely Jr., 44, of Ambridge, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison plus eight years of supervised release for a series of drug trafficking and firearm violations, according to Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
Mosely pleaded guilty in federal court to violating drug trafficking laws and firearms regulations. His sentence was imposed by Judge Robert J. Colville following an investigation led by federal, state, and local law enforcement under the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program in Beaver County.
The investigation revealed Mosely’s involvement in distributing controlled substances from his own residence in Ambridge and his girlfriend’s home in Aliquippa. A July 2021 search at these locations resulted in the seizure of a loaded, stolen handgun, ammunition, crack cocaine, bulk U.S. currency, and other drug-related items.
Following this, Mosely was stopped during a traffic stop in New Brighton, Pennsylvania, where he was found with additional drugs and money. Later that month, he fled a fight outside a bar in Beaver Falls after throwing an item into a cigarette machine, later leading to the discovery of a loaded handgun behind the machine.
Before imposing sentence, Judge Colville highlighted the severity of Mosely’s offenses and the danger he poses to the community. Assistant United States Attorney Brendan J. McKenna prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Pennsylvania State Police, New Brighton Area Police Department, Beaver Falls Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Rivetti commended these agencies for their efforts in bringing Mosely to justice.
