Timothy Murphy, Child Pornography Possession, New York 2014

Buffalo, NY – A 50-year-old Amherst man has been sentenced to 36 months in prison for possession of child pornography, authorities announced.

Timothy Murphy, a former technician for the Kenmore Tonawanda School District, was convicted of the crime after a search warrant was executed at his Kings Highway residence on October 15, 2014.

Forensic examination of Murphy’s computer revealed approximately 123 images and one video of child pornography, some depicting children under 12 years old, and some containing violent content.

The investigation was led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James C. Spero.

‘This sentencing is a culmination of a thorough investigation and is a testament to our commitment to protecting our children from these heinous crimes,’ U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. said in a statement.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott S. Allen, Jr. handled the case and praised the work of law enforcement officials involved.

The sentence serves as a warning to those who engage in similar crimes, and law enforcement officials will continue to work tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice.
