STORM JONES, Homicide, New York 2020

United States Attorney Jay Clayton, along with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the New York City Police Department (NYPD), announced a superseding indictment charging six members of the Bronx Crew for their involvement in a violent spree that took two lives and wounded another. The suspects, STORM JONES; MICHAEL ORTIZ, a/k/a “Dot”; RANDY MACCOW; MARIO MEDINA, a/k/a “Flacco”; JAYSON HOLLAND, a/k/a “Jerry,” a/k/a “Ninety”; and FRANCIS OFORI, a/k/a “Ghana,” are accused of committing two homicides and one non-fatal shooting.

Clayton called out the crew’s activities in the Bronx neighborhood, stating, ‘These defendants wreaked havoc across a Bronx neighborhood through a string of robberies and killings. New Yorkers want and deserve safe streets.’

HSI Special Agent in Charge Ricky J. Patel echoed Clayton’s sentiments, emphasizing that HSI New York will continue to target violent criminals without ceasing.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch highlighted the gravity of the crime, ‘Two New Yorkers lost their lives, another was seriously injured, and entire communities were shattered by this violence.’ Tisch also mentioned the NYPD’s proactive stance in dismantling gang activities.

The investigation revealed that the Elsmere Crew used 804 Elsmere Place in the Bronx as a central location for drug use, gun possession, and criminal planning. The crew is accused of orchestrating two robberies where victims were confronted, robbed, and shot at by members of the gang.

According to court documents, JONES, ORTIZ, MACCOW, MEDINA, and HOLLAND were involved in the shooting death of 29-year-old Jeffrey German on September 1, 2020. Another shooting occurred on November 3, 2020, where a victim survived after being attacked by ORTIZ and OFORI.
