Anthony Cook, a 55-year-old resident of Chicago, Illinois, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for his role in a major cocaine trafficking operation in western Pennsylvania.
A federal court in Pittsburgh handed down the sentence on June 11, 2024, following Cook’s conviction on charges of violating federal narcotics laws. According to the prosecution, Cook supplied over five kilograms of cocaine to two distributors in the Western District of Pennsylvania, after personally transporting the drugs from Chicago.
Cook’s conviction was the result of a lengthy investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania State Police, and Perryopolis Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan D. Lusty on behalf of the government.
United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan commended the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation, saying that their work was instrumental in bringing Cook to justice.
Cook’s sentence includes 46 months of incarceration, followed by three years of supervised release. This conviction is part of a larger effort by law enforcement to disrupt and dismantle major drug trafficking operations in the region.
The investigation was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, which uses a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven approach to identify and disrupt the highest-level drug traffickers and transnational criminal organizations.
