Methamphetamine Couple Handed Heavy Sentences

A Houston couple, Michael Taylor and Leslie Peck, have been handed heavy sentences for their roles in a large-scale methamphetamine distribution operation in Louisiana.

According to court records, Taylor, 48, and Peck, 35, pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine and distributing 50 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine.

The couple’s operation was uncovered by a joint investigation between the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Louisiana State Police.

U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier sentenced Taylor to 120 months imprisonment, followed by 5 years of supervised release. Peck was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment, followed by 4 years of supervised release.

Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the investigators, saying, ‘This case is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies working together to disrupt and dismantle large-scale narcotics trafficking organizations.’

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Long led the prosecution in this case, bringing the couple to justice for their crimes.
