Crackdown on Crystal Meth Continues in Southwest Georgia: Local Resident Faces Up to 20 Years in Prison

Anthony Giddens, a 40-year-old resident of Moultrie, Georgia, has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in a federal court. The shocking revelation comes after a thorough investigation by the Moultrie Police Department and Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the police report, Giddens was pulled over on September 10, 2019, for a tag violation on Veterans Parkway South. The officer on duty noticed Giddens acting evasive and nervous during the exchange. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a large plastic bag filled with 1005.68 grams of crystal methamphetamine on the front passenger seat.

Further investigation revealed a stolen pistol, a revolver, two digital scales, a large quantity of plastic baggies, and $2,214 in cash. The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office drug investigator was dispatched to the scene, adding to the severity of the charges.

Giddens faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and a $1,000,000 fine. The harsh penalties are a testament to the federal government’s commitment to combating the devastating impact of methamphetamine in local communities.
