Albuquerque Man Charged with Unlawful Dealing in Firearms
A 41-year-old Albuquerque man has been charged with engaging in the business of dealing firearms without a license, federal authorities announced.
Anthony Lutz appeared in federal court on an indictment charging him with a single count of unlawful dealing in firearms, U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez and Special Agent in Charge Brendan Iber of the Phoenix Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) said.
According to the indictment, between approximately Sept. 21, 2019, and Aug. 4, 2023, Lutz engaged in the business of dealing firearms without a license, a federal crime. An indictment is only an allegation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
If convicted, Lutz faces up to 5 years imprisonment and up to 3 years of supervised release thereafter.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated this case with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations. The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico is prosecuting the case.
This effort is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach.
