Drug Trafficking and Firearms Offenses: Anthony Michael Cobb Charged

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – A 47-year-old man from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, has been charged with drug trafficking and firearms offenses. Anthony Michael Cobb, 47, was indicted on March 29, 2017 by a federal grand jury with three drug trafficking offenses and unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to United States Attorney Bruce D. Brandler, Cobb was allegedly in possession of firearms illegally, and possessed heroin, crack cocaine, and powder cocaine with the intent to distribute. The indictment also alleges that Cobb was previously convicted of a felony offense, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm.

The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Waynesboro Police Department with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney James T. Clancy is prosecuting the case.

This case was brought as part of a district-wide initiative to combat the nationwide epidemic regarding the use and distribution of heroin. Led by the United States Attorney’s Office, the Heroin Initiative targets heroin traffickers operating in the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Cobb is also facing charges as part of the Violent Crime Reduction Partnership (VCRP), a district-wide initiative to combat the spread of violent crime in the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Indictments and Criminal Informations are only allegations. All persons charged are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court.

The maximum penalty under federal law for the unlawful possession of firearm charge is life in prison, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. The maximum penalty for each of the drug trafficking charges is 30 years in prison, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.
