A group of Antifa cell members launched a terrorist attack on the Prairieland Detention Center, an ICE facility in North Texas, on July 4, 2025. The attack involved rioting, using weapons and explosives, and attempting to murder an Alvarado police officer. Seven members of the cell were sentenced to a combined 182 years in prison for their roles in the attack. The sentences were handed down just before the one-year anniversary of the attack.
The defendants, including Ines Soto, Joy Gibson, Rebecca Morgan, Lynette Sharp, John Thomas, Seth Sikes, and Nathan Baumann, received sentences ranging from 22 months to 50 years in prison. The sentences bring the total prison time for the 15 members of the Antifa cell to over 556 years.
The attack on the Prairieland Detention Center was designated as a terrorist attack following President Donald J. Trump’s executive order designating Antifa as a Domestic Terrorist Organization in September 2025. The sentences imposed on the defendants reflect the severity of the crimes committed and the threat posed to the community.
