Wichita, Kansas – In a shocking turn of events, Antoine Beasley, a 37-year-old Wichita resident, has pleaded guilty to a federal marijuana trafficking charge in Kansas. This comes after a thorough investigation by local authorities and federal agencies.
According to court documents, Beasley was part of a drug trafficking organization that imported marijuana and distributed it to buyers in Wichita. The organization’s activities were uncovered during a search of Beasley’s home, where police seized over $250,000 in cash, checks, and drug paraphernalia. A stash house controlled by Beasley was also raided, resulting in the seizure of marijuana and a DPMS model A-15 rifle.
Beasley’s plea agreement includes charges of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm by a user of controlled substances. He is set to be sentenced on October 4, with both parties recommending a sentence of 63 months in federal prison.
Beasley’s co-defendants, who are awaiting trial, include Gerald Beasley, 62; Charlotte Akogun, 55; Carlos Beasley, 43; Terry Beasley, 63; Herbert Jones, 56; Stephen Smallwood, 69; Brandon Smith, 46; and Helen Beasley, 59. Larry Reed, 58, has already been sentenced to 24 months, while Gerald Wilson, 46, is set for sentencing on July 19.
The case against Beasley and his co-defendants was a collaborative effort involving the Wichita Police Department, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Internal Revenue Service, Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office, and federal prosecutors.
U.S. Attorney Tom Beall commended the efforts of the agencies involved in the case, stating that their work was instrumental in bringing Beasley and his co-defendants to justice. The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime in the region.
