A 38-year-old man from Mount Clare, West Virginia, has admitted to breaking the law by owning a gun.
Aric J. Stutler, of Mount Clare, West Virginia, pleaded guilty in federal court in Clarksburg today to one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, announced United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II.
Stutler was discovered in unlawful possession of a .22 caliber pistol in May 2015 in Harrison County, West Virginia. He was previously convicted of the felony offense of Armed Bank Robbery in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
According to court documents, Stutler has a previous felony conviction in federal court in Ohio. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for his crime.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case against Stutler. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Perri prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the case.
Stutler’s sentence will be based on the seriousness of the offenses and his prior criminal history, if any. He will be sentenced in federal court.
The crime occurred in Harrison County, West Virginia, on May 2015.
