Donaven J. White, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, West Virginia 2016

A 20-year-old Ohio man has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm in West Virginia.

Donaven J. White, of Coshocton, Ohio, was allegedly discovered in possession of a .22 caliber revolver in April 2016 in Ohio County, West Virginia.

White has a previous felony conviction in state court in Ohio, having been convicted of robbery in the Court of Common Pleas of Belmont County, Ohio in August 2014.

The indictment, returned by a federal grand jury, charges White with one count of Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm.

Under federal law, a person convicted of this offense can face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant, according to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Vogrin is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government, with the Wheeling, West Virginia Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigating.

White is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
