TEMPE, ARIZONA — In a brazen scheme to sell death in the mail, 28-year-old Dominique Holliday of Tempe, Arizona has been sentenced to 87 months in federal prison for sending thousands of fentanyl pills to Marion, Iowa.
Holliday, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit money laundering in December 2023, was found to have sent packages containing 200 to 300 fentanyl pills to an individual in Marion every two weeks, totaling approximately 3,200 pills between April 2021 and December 2021.
But Holliday’s scheme didn’t just put the lives of those in Marion at risk – it nearly took two lives. On two separate occasions in December 2021, individuals suffered non-fatal overdoses after ingesting fentanyl pills sent by Holliday.
“The distribution of fentanyl is a deadly business, and those who engage in it must be held accountable,” said Assistant United States Attorney Dillan Edwards. “We are committed to stopping the flow of this poison and bringing those responsible to justice.”
Holliday’s prison term will be followed by a five-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
The case was investigated by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program, a cooperative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Marion Police Department, and the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
As part of his sentence, Holliday is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison. The case file number is 23-CR-00021-CJW, and can be found at ecf.iand.uscourts.gov.
