Kareem M. Strong, Cocaine Trafficking, Missouri 2023

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Virginia man has been handed a decade-long sentence for his role in a high-stakes cocaine trafficking operation that stretched from the Nevada desert to the east coast.

34-year-old Kareem M. Strong of Ashburn, Va., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Brian C. Wimes to 10 years in federal prison without parole. The stiff sentence came after Strong was caught with just over a kilogram of cocaine while en route from Nevada to Virginia.

The feds laid their trap at the Kansas City bus station where, on Dec. 13, 2023, they nabbed Strong and an accomplice during a routine interdiction sweep. Inside a black backpack, authorities discovered a heat-sealed brick of white powder with an “ROLEX” imprint, which upon testing by the Kansas City Police Crime Laboratory, proved to be cocaine in the salt form. The brick weighed 1,004.73 grams.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad K. Kavanaugh is leading the prosecution against Strong, who has been charged with possessing cocaine with intent to distribute. The DEA and the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department have worked tirelessly to dismantle this criminal enterprise.

Strong’s arrest and conviction send a stark message to drug traffickers that federal law enforcement takes such crimes seriously and will not hesitate to put them away for years on end.

This case is another reminder of the relentless efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat the ever-growing threat of drug trafficking across state lines, ensuring a safer America for all.
