Atoka Man Sentenced to 9 Years for Meth Distribution
A 53-year-old man from Atoka, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution ring.
David Edward Ainsworth was found guilty of Distribution of Methamphetamine and Felon in Possession of Firearm after a lengthy investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The indictment alleged that Ainsworth knowingly distributed 5 grams or more of methamphetamine on May 27, 2015, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
Ainsworth was also accused of possessing a firearm, a Savage Model 94 Series M, 20 gauge weapon, which had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce, despite being a convicted felon.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing and sentenced Ainsworth to 90 months imprisonment and 4 years supervised release for the methamphetamine charge, and 90 months imprisonment and 3 years supervised release for the firearm charge, to run concurrently.
Ainsworth will remain in custody pending transportation to the designated federal facility at which the nonparoleable sentence will be served.
Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Hammer represented the United States in the case.
The sentencing brings an end to an investigation that began with allegations of methamphetamine distribution and firearm possession in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
