Johnstown, Pa. – Kari Ameen Wheeler, a resident of East Conemaugh, Pennsylvania, was handed down a 138-month federal prison sentence by United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines today, following his conviction for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Wheeler, now 38 years old, is facing the substantial sentence after being caught distributing and possessing over 500 grams of meth on August 21, 2024, within the Western District of Pennsylvania. The crime spree didn’t end there; just two days later, Wheeler was found in possession of two firearms and ammunition, a clear violation considering his prior felony conviction.
The investigation leading to Wheeler’s downfall was a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force and Cambria County Drug Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard Jr. prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti commended both investigative units for their work in bringing Wheeler to justice, emphasizing that the sentence handed down is a clear message against methamphetamine trafficking and illegal firearms possession.
This is yet another blow to Pennsylvania’s methamphetamine trade, as law enforcement continues to crack down on drug traffickers across the state. The sentence imposed on Wheeler serves as a stern reminder of the consequences for those who engage in dangerous and illegal activities involving drugs and weapons.
Wheeler’s case underscores the ongoing battle against organized crime and drug trafficking in Pennsylvania, highlighting the dedication of law enforcement agencies to protect the public from such threats.
