Notorious Prescription Pill Mill Dealer Brought to Justice
In a major crackdown on prescription pill trafficking, federal authorities have taken down Brady Allen Batista, a notorious dealer whose operation in Montana was raking in millions. Batista, 35, of Missoula, Montana, was arrested and charged with running a large-scale prescription pill mill, selling fake prescriptions to desperate addicts.
According to court documents, investigators found evidence of a massive pill mill operation, with fake prescriptions written for a variety of controlled substances, including oxycodone, hydrocodone, and fentanyl. The investigation revealed that Batista was selling these prescriptions to individuals for thousands of dollars, often using shell companies and other financial schemes to launder the money.
Authorities also seized over $1 million in cash, multiple vehicles, and several properties linked to Batista’s operation. The investigation was a joint effort between the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Montana Department of Justice, and the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office.
Batista’s attorneys, Ryan G. Weldon AUSA, Nick K. Brooke, and Timothy J. Racicot, have yet to comment on the charges. If convicted, Batista faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
U.S. Attorney for the District of Montana, the Honorable Leif M. Johnson, praised the efforts of the investigating agencies, stating, ‘This case is a prime example of our commitment to holding accountable those who exploit our communities for financial gain.’
The case, United States v. Batista, is currently pending in the District Court, D. Montana, with a docket number of 9:25-cr-00032.
