Robbery Turns Deadly in Topeka, Kansas

Audley M. Crable, 28, of Topeka, Kansas, has been charged with commercial robbery and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a robbery.

According to the indictment, Crable robbed Mo’s Express at 810 Southeast 15th in Topeka on November 19, 2011. During the robbery, he allegedly fired a gun, severely injuring two employees.

If convicted, Crable faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on the robbery charge. He also faces a consecutive sentence of not less than 10 years and a fine of up to $250,000 on the firearms charge.

The FBI and the Topeka Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jared Maag is prosecuting.

Audley M. Crable, 28, of Topeka, Kansas, is charged with:

• Commercial robbery (up to 20 years and a fine of up to $250,000)
• Discharging a firearm in furtherance of a robbery (not less than 10 years and a fine of up to $250,000)

Crable’s case is currently pending.

The indictment merely contains allegations of criminal conduct, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
