Austin Pratt, a 30-year-old athletic trainer, is facing serious charges in New York after being accused of enticement of a minor and production of child pornography.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Pratt began texting a 16-year-old girl, a minor, in November 2018. The two eventually exchanged nude photographs, and Pratt made admissions about having feelings for the minor and wanting to be with her. Pratt even made a comment about being ‘super sneaky’ due to their age difference and his being married.
Pratt allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with the minor at her home on January 7, 2019. The charges against Pratt carry a minimum penalty of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 40 years, as well as a $250,000 fine.
The investigation into Pratt’s activities was led by the New York State Police, the Rochester Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office.
The fact that Pratt has been charged is merely an accusation, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Pratt is currently being held pending a detention hearing on March 14, 2019, at 9:30 a.m.
Pratt’s actions are a stark reminder of the dangers of child predators and the importance of protecting minors from abuse.
The case against Pratt serves as a warning to those who would seek to exploit and harm children. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work tirelessly to bring those who commit such crimes to justice.
