Atlanta’s ‘GoodFellas’ Hit With Heavy Sentences: Meth, Machineguns, and a Fortified Trap House

ATLANTA, GA – The streets of Atlanta are a little less dangerous today after two members of the notorious GoodFellas gang received significant federal prison sentences. Corey Boyer, a/k/a “Baby Joker,” 26, and Antonio Smith, a/k/a “Ace,” 27, both of Atlanta, were sentenced for their roles in distributing methamphetamine and other illicit drugs throughout the metro-Atlanta area, while simultaneously fueling the gang’s violent operations with illegal firearms, including machineguns.

The operation, uncovered by the FBI in Spring 2024, centered around a fortified apartment complex in west Atlanta. According to U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg, Boyer and Smith used this location as a “trap house” – a base of operations for their criminal enterprise. For months, federal agents observed the pair conducting brazen hand-to-hand drug transactions, building a case that would ultimately dismantle a key part of the GoodFellas network.

The bust went down in August 2024. When law enforcement moved in, Smith attempted a desperate escape, jumping out a window while carrying an unserialized machinegun in his waistband. Inside the apartment, Boyer was found surrounded by an arsenal: six firearms, body armor, approximately 500 rounds of ammunition, over $1,000 in counterfeit currency, and several suspected machinegun conversion devices. The haul also included approximately 10 kilograms of marijuana, more than a kilogram each of methamphetamine and MDMA, along with cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms.

“Boyer and Smith operated a fortified trap house to fund the violent GoodFellas gang by dealing drugs and trafficking firearms, including machineguns,” Hertzberg stated. “Our office continues to closely coordinate with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to investigate, prosecute, and punish gang members who pose a clear and present danger to our community.” The GoodFellas, authorities say, actively recruit members from Atlanta neighborhoods and within the state’s jail and prison systems, growing their ranks through a steady stream of criminal activity – drug trafficking, robbery, carjacking, fraud, and firearms trafficking.

Antonio Smith received the longer sentence: 14 years, 2 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release. He was convicted on May 28, 2025, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a machine gun, and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Corey Boyer was sentenced to 12 years, 6 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine on April 18, 2025.

The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Atlanta Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Lauren E. Renaud prosecuted the case. This operation falls under the umbrella of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), a multi-agency initiative dedicated to dismantling major criminal organizations threatening the United States.
