Baltimore Man Pleads Guilty in Armed Robbery Spree
Baltimore, MD – Quindell Ryeshawn Gardner, 22, pleaded guilty today to a commercial robbery conspiracy and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
Gardner was one of several individuals involved in a string of armed robberies that took place in the Baltimore area. According to his plea agreement, Gardner committed approximately 22 armed robberies, using a short-barreled shotgun in some of the robberies.
Co-conspirator Tavon McPhaul, 22, also pleaded guilty to the same charge on August 5, 2013. McPhaul admitted to committing 12 armed robberies, driving the getaway vehicle in some of the robberies.
The robberies took place between June 28 and July 4, 2012, and included five convenience store robberies in the Baltimore area. In one of the robberies, Gardner used a short-barreled shotgun to steal cash and cigarettes.
Gardner was arrested after a car chase on July 4, 2012, and his clothing matched that of the individual who participated in both robberies that day. McPhaul, who was driving the getaway car, escaped on foot and attempted to wipe the firearm clean with a blanket.
Both Gardner and McPhaul are scheduled to be sentenced in the coming weeks. Gardner will be sentenced to between 15 and 25 years in prison, while McPhaul faces between 11 and 15 years in prison.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein praised the FBI, the Baltimore City and Baltimore County Police Departments, and the Anne Arundel County Police Department for their work in the investigation.
