Marvin Benjamin Sparrow, Armed Robbery, Maryland 2020

A 32-year-old Baltimore man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in an armed robbery of a phone store in Baltimore County.

Marvin Benjamin Sparrow, 32, of Baltimore, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for his participation in the January 2020 armed robbery of a T-Mobile store in Dundalk, Maryland.

According to court documents, Sparrow and his co-conspirators planned and committed armed robberies of three businesses located in Howard, Anne Arundel, and Baltimore counties. During the robbery, Sparrow’s co-conspirator brandished a gun, and then Sparrow and the co-conspirator stole cellphones and other electronic devices.

Sparrow and two co-conspirators were apprehended and arrested by law enforcement officers after the robbery. The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities across the country.

U.S. Attorney Erek L. Barron commended the ATF, the Howard County Police Department, the Anne Arundel Police Department, the Baltimore County Police Department, and the Baltimore Police Department for their work in the investigation.

Barron thanked Assistant U.S. Attorneys John W. Sippel, Jr., and Adey Adenrele, who prosecuted the case. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland has prioritized combating violent crime and gun violence in the community, and this case is a testament to their efforts.
