Baltimore Man Sentenced for Stolen Firearm
Baltimore, MD – A Baltimore man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for being in possession of a stolen firearm, as part of a federal crackdown on gun violence in the city.
Sedrick Sutton, 32, was sentenced on September 17, 2021, by U.S. District Judge Ellen L. Hollander for being in possession of a stolen firearm. According to court documents, Sutton was identified as an individual present at an altercation observed on a city watch camera. At the time of the altercation, Sutton was found to be in possession of a handgun in his waistband.
Officers arrived at the scene and located Sutton, and a search of his person revealed a loaded handgun from his waistband. The case was brought as part of the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative aimed at reducing gun violence in Baltimore.
“The successful prosecution and conviction in this case demonstrates the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s commitment to addressing gun violence in Baltimore,” said Acting United States Attorney Jonathan F. Lenzner. “Our strategy to reduce violent crime in Baltimore relies on enforcement efforts to prosecute those individuals who are driving the violence and importing deadly drugs, as well as community outreach and prevention efforts to help potential offenders make better choices for themselves and their families and communities.”
The convictions in these six federal cases are a testament to the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies and the community to make Baltimore a safer place to live.
Other convictions include: Daiquan Mayo, sentenced to 50 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm; Damien Parker, sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm; Jeffrey Keyser, sentenced to 44 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm; and George Graham, scheduled to be sentenced for possession of a firearm as a prohibited person.
