Jennifer Lamanna, Embezzlement by Bank Employee, Florida 2024

Tampa, Florida – The grimy truth of a bank heist queen’s downfall was unveiled as Jennifer Lamanna, 49, from Venice, today pleaded guilty to one count of theft or embezzlement by a bank employee and one count of making a false statement to an agency of the United States.

Lamanna’s brazen scheme led her to steal cash worth $255,362 from a branch bank vault in Venice. The cunning criminal utilized a contingency cash bag program during the COVID-19 pandemic to her advantage, gaining sole access to the vault and siphoning off funds undetected.

When the program ended, Lamanna continued her thievery until caught red-handed. She was sentenced to at least 30 years in federal prison for embezzlement alone, with an additional five years possible for making a false statement. A staggering $280,000 will be forfeited by Lamanna.

Her deceit didn’t stop there; Lamanna manipulated customer accounts and filed fictitious Currency Transaction Reports to mask her thefts. On June 8, 2023, she committed the ultimate lie when she submitted a false Currency Transaction Report to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, falsely claiming a deposit of $160,100.

This sordid tale was investigated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation – Office of Inspector General and Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, Tampa field office. The case is being prosecuted with unwavering determination by Special Assistant United States Attorney Chris Poor.

As Lamanna’s fate becomes sealed, one can only hope that her plea serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of white-collar crime in these trying times.
