Jaime Jesus Sanchez-Ramos, Bank Robbery, New Mexico 2012

A brazen bank robber has been brought to justice. Jaime Jesus Sanchez-Ramos, a 23-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced to 46 months in prison for his role in a string of bank robberies in Santa Fe.

According to court documents, Sanchez-Ramos robbed four banks between January and April 2012. The first robbery occurred at the Century Bank on Jan. 26, 2012, followed by the New Mexico Bank and Trust on Feb. 15, 2012. The next two robberies took place at the Bank of Albuquerque on March 16, 2012, and the U.S. Bank on Apr. 2, 2012.

Sanchez-Ramos was arrested on April 10, 2012, and charged with one count of bank robbery. He was later indicted on May 8, 2012, and charged with the four robberies. However, under the terms of his plea agreement, Sanchez-Ramos plead guilty to only one count of bank robbery, with the stipulation that he would be responsible for restitution to all four banks.

Sanchez-Ramos will be deported to Mexico after he completes his prison sentence. He has also been ordered to pay restitution to the four banks he robbed.

The case was investigated by the Santa Fe office of the FBI and the Santa Fe Police Department, and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lynn W.Y. Wang and C. Paige Messec.

Sanchez-Ramos’s prison sentence is a significant blow to his plans for a life of crime. The 46-month sentence is a stark reminder that bank robbery will not be taken lightly by law enforcement.

With his guilty plea and subsequent sentence, Sanchez-Ramos will be spending a significant amount of time behind bars, leaving him with a long time to think about his life of crime.

Sanchez-Ramos is a prime example of why bank robbery is a serious crime that carries serious consequences.
