Silas Pardue, Heroin Distribution, West Virginia 2023

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – In a landmark conclusion to the drug conspiracy saga known as Operation Saigon Sunset, Barboursville’s Silas Pardue, 34, has been handed a sentence of 90 days home confinement and five years probation for his role in distributing heroin throughout Huntington. The United States Attorney Mike Stuart announced the sentencing, capping off a series of convictions that targeted the Peterson drug trafficking organization.

“The sun has set on Operation Saigon Sunset, but it is rising in Huntington,” Stuart declared, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to combat drug dealers who poison communities with their wares. “All 15 defendants have now been sentenced, with sentences ranging from 97 months in prison to Pardue’s own term of home confinement.”

Pardue’s guilty plea for conspiracy to distribute heroin was entered in April, after he admitted to selling heroin to a male at the WalMart on Route 60. As part of his plea agreement, Pardue confessed that Manget Peterson, alias “Money,” supplied him with the illegal substance. He also confessed to being a ‘runner’ for Peterson.

This investigation was a collaborative effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Violent Crime and Drug Task Force West. United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence, with Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie S. Taylor handling the prosecution.

Pardue’s case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by drug trafficking organizations and the federal government’s commitment to eradicating such threats from our communities. The sentencing comes at a time when the fight against illegal drugs remains a top priority for law enforcement agencies across the nation.
