Alexander Jose Barreto-Rodriguez, CSAM Distribution, Florida 2025

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – A Venezuelan national is facing federal charges after allegedly distributing horrific child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and attempting to arrange for the sexual exploitation of young girls. Alexander Jose Barreto-Rodriguez, 31, was indicted July 23, 2025, and now faces a potential prison sentence of at least five years, and up to twenty, if convicted.

According to court documents, Barreto-Rodriguez wasn’t just passively sharing depravity. He actively distributed CSAM through various messaging applications in December 2024. The materials depict children engaging in sexually explicit acts – a vile trade that preys on the most vulnerable. But the indictment goes further, alleging that Barreto-Rodriguez boasted to a confidential source working with law enforcement that he could procure female children, aged 8 to 13, for further sexual exploitation.

United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the arrest, emphasizing the severity of the charges. “The distribution of CSAM and the attempted exploitation of children are abhorrent crimes,” Kehoe stated. “We will relentlessly pursue those who commit these acts and bring them to justice.” A trial date is currently set for September 2025, with the case assigned to United States District Judge Wendy W. Berger.

This isn’t a standalone case. It’s part of the Department of Justice’s “Project Safe Childhood,” a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat the escalating epidemic of child sexual exploitation. The project aims to not only prosecute offenders but also to locate and rescue victims, bringing together federal, state, and local law enforcement resources.

The investigation was a coordinated effort led by Homeland Security Investigations, the Flager County Sheriff’s Office, and the Northeast Florida INTERCEPT Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney John Cannizzaro is prosecuting the case. An indictment is a formal accusation; Barreto-Rodriguez is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
