Presque Isle Man Sentenced to 4 Years for Bath Salts Distribution Conspiracy
In a move to crack down on the illicit sale of synthetic drugs, Presque Isle resident Andrew Grivois, 32, was sentenced to four years in prison and three years of supervised release for conspiring to distribute bath salts. The sentencing took place in U.S. District Court in Bangor, Maine, with Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. handing down the punishment.
Grivois, who pleaded guilty to the charge on March 3, 2016, was part of a conspiracy that operated in Aroostook County between June 2012 and June 2014. Court records reveal that he conspired with others to obtain and distribute the illicit substance, ordering it over the internet from China for both personal use and to sell to other members of the group.
The case was a result of a joint investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The investigation highlighted the dangers of these synthetic substances, which can have serious health consequences for users.
The U.S. Attorney for the District of Maine, Thomas E. Delahanty II, praised the efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved in the case, stating that their work is crucial in combating the sale and distribution of illegal substances.
