BECKLEY, W.Va. – A Beckley woman was sentenced to one year in federal prison for her role in the distribution of heroin in the city. Teruko Miller, 29, was handed down the sentence by United States District Court Judge Irene C. Berger after pleading guilty to selling heroin to a person who was cooperating with law enforcement authorities.
The drug deal took place on Stanaford Road in Beckley, West Virginia. Investigators from the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit were able to crack the case, bringing Miller to justice. This case is part of an ongoing effort led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs and heroin.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, joined by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, is committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down illegal pill trafficking, eliminating open air drug markets, and curtailing the spread of opiate painkillers and heroin in communities across the Southern District.
