Belle Vernon Man Sentenced for Violating Supervised Release
PITTSBURGH, PA – Eric Seighman, a 36-year-old man from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 2 more years in prison for violating multiple conditions of his supervised release.
Seighman was found to have committed another crime, unlawfully possessed a controlled substance, failed to notify his probation officer of his arrest, and failed to reside in a residential re-entry facility and abide by its rules.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Seighman had previously been sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment and three years of supervised release for conspiring to possess and pass thousands of dollars of counterfeit currency. He was also sentenced to an additional 24 months’ imprisonment for prior violations of his supervised release.
Seighman began his current term of supervised release on August 6, 2019, and was arrested by Pittsburgh Police the same day on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Assistant United States Attorney Adam N. Hallowell prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon imposed the sentence, citing the seriousness of Seighman’s violations, his criminal history, and the need for deterrence and to protect the public.
