Sean Fager, 54, of Reading, Pennsylvania, is headed to federal prison for 18 years after being convicted of producing, transporting, and possessing child pornography—crimes that involved the sexual exploitation of two children, both approximately 5 years old. The sentence, handed down by Judge Jeffrey L. Schmehl, includes lifetime supervised release, ensuring Fager will remain under federal watch for the rest of his life.
Fager pleaded guilty in January 2019 to federal charges stemming from a trove of more than 400 digital images and multiple videos found on his personal computer. Among the most disturbing evidence: homemade photos depicting the young boy and girl in bondage and diaper fetish scenarios, created by Fager for his own sexual gratification. The materials were discovered after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged an IP address tied to Fager for uploading suspected child pornography in March 2014.
The FBI’s investigation peeled back the layers of Fager’s predatory behavior, uncovering not just a vast collection of illegal material but proof of his active participation in fetish-based abuse. Forensic analysis confirmed Fager had produced and stored explicit content involving prepubescent children, with some images showing signs of physical restraint and other degrading acts. The digital footprint left behind left no doubt about his intent and involvement.
“This defendant’s conduct was abhorrent. He preyed on the most vulnerable of victims – two five-year-old children,” said U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain. “Fager, and others like him who participate in the world of child pornography, perpetuate the harm to the victims by creating demand and fueling this market.” McSwain emphasized that every download, every view, re-victimizes the children, making the crime relentless and ongoing.
Michael T. Harpster, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia Division, echoed the sentiment: “Sean Fager eagerly victimized two young children. Society is unquestionably safer with predators like him behind bars, and the FBI will never stop working to bring such criminals to justice.” The case, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, underscores the agency’s ongoing push to dismantle networks of child exploitation at every level.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Amanda Reinitz and Christine Sykes. With this sentence, federal authorities send a clear message: those who produce or possess child pornography will face severe consequences. For Fager, that means nearly two decades in prison and a lifetime of accountability for crimes that leave invisible scars on society’s most innocent.
